About Brigette

​

Brigette Peterson was born and raised in Massachusetts.  In 1995, she, her husband Mark and daughter Jenn decided to relocate.  They quickly chose Gilbert, AZ for the beautiful weather, excellent sense of community and high level of schools.  She left behind a 10 year career at Raytheon, where she held a Secret clearance with the Federal Government and worked on many government contracts.

 

Brigette Peterson has had the honor of serving as Gilbert Mayor since January 2021. Before that she served on the Gilbert Town Council in her first term from January 2015 - January 2019 and her 2nd term from January 2019 - March 2020 (she had to resign to run for Mayor). Brigette served as Vice Mayor in 2018.

Brigette served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman (PC) and State Committeeman (SC) for Legislative District 12 (now LD14). 

​

Brigette is an alumni of Gilbert Leadership Class VIII, former Board Member and Past Chair of the Gilbert Leadership Board of Directors. She currently serves on the alumni and program development subcommittees. Gilbert Leadership is a program of the Gilbert Chamber Foundation.

Prior to being elected to Town Council Brigette served on the Gilbert Planning Commission for over 14 years. She has also served as the Zoning Hearing Officer and on many Gilbert steering committees and stakeholder groups.

​

Married to Mark, they have one daughter Jenn and son-in-law Shawn and grandson Jax. Brigette and Mark currently enjoy time with their 3 pets (2 cats from local rescues) and 1 Golden Retriever (former assistance dog-in-training). They also enjoy day trips in Marks Jeep as part of the Gilbert 4-wheelers Club. Other hobbies include holiday décor/crafts, social media and listening to audio books.
